Donkey Kong

A blockbuster climbing platform game, and Nintendo's first hit in the United States.

Donkey Kong was the introduction to an overweight, mustachioed plumber, who had to rescue his girlfriend Pauline from a mind-sick monkey. The plumber, who was called "Jumpman", would later become Super Mario, main character for some of the most succesful Nintendo games, and became Nintendo's chief trademark. The monkey would get his own game later with Donkey Kong for the SNES.

Jumpman tries to save the girl from the horrible Donkey Kong, who stands on the top of a scaffold throwing big barrels down. Jumpman (or Mario) must avoid the barrels and the flames that "walk" around on the courses by either jumping over them or, if he finds a hammer, simply smashing all those that get in his way.
